Where can I find inexpensive pottery wheels and art materials?
Looking for cheap electric potter's wheel or hand. So I'm looking for art materials such as canvas and paint. I'm new to this and want to start my own painting and ceramics. I do not know how to begin.
Totally agree with the idea of taking art classes at local, and use of wheels and kilns at first sight. You can also join your local Freecycle group through Yahoo Groups. They help people get rid of your additional waste, and all these things that people need to find free - no money, no bartering, this redistribution of useless and free side. Many people spend a lot of money on a hobby, think, be fun and rewarding to discover that is not your cup of tea. Some of these people sell their orders for garage sales. Other donated to local thrift stores, charities, or groups artists, and some are far from Freecycle question. Sometimes, schools and art centers to sell their surplus equipment at low prices, and sometimes you can find bargains in garage sales and thrift stores. The people who are useful or creative often build their own equipment and tools. Artists certainly qualifies as practical and creative, and have done many things in my own past. I have seen plans online for building wheel fire, and I'm sure you could find some of the cars. I am fortunate to be able to buy my clay directly from Refinery, (if this is the right word for the people that the excavation of the earth, crush it on the screen, etc..) You can also try placing an ad in your local newspaper or online, or put an ad in a local bulletin board saying that you are interested in finding art materials cheap or free. EBay has some good deals from time to time, too. Good luck.
